Skin Care
Hydration vs Moisturisation
Hydration and moisturisation serve different roles in skin care, and they solve different problems.
Hydration adds water to the upper layers of skin. This softens skin cells, improves flexibility, and helps flakes shed evenly instead of clinging to the surface. Hydrated skin feels comfortable and light, with no coating or residue left behind.
Hydration
Adds water to the skin.
Works on surface layers.
Softens dry skin cells.
Helps flakes release and shed.
Feels light and comfortable.
Uses ingredients like glycerin, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, and aloe.
Moisturisation works differently. It does not add water. It seals water inside the skin and supports the barrier so moisture does not escape. This smooths and protects the surface, but it leaves a film behind. When moisturisation outweighs hydration, flakes improve but do not fully disappear, and skin can feel sticky rather than fresh.
Moisturisation
Seals water inside the skin.
Strengthens the skin barrier.
Slows water loss.
Smooths and protects the surface.
Leaves a film that can feel tacky.
Uses oils, butters, and occlusive ingredients.
